Bohemian Massif (Rappottenstein Castle): The Bohemian Massif is Austria’s oldest landscape, a heavily eroded and therefore gently rolling peneplain. The area around Rappottenstein Castle is formed by the South Bohemian Pluton, which intruded into the Moldanubian zone about 300 million years ago.
